UCF Hoops lands D.C. area star

Even though he's only been at UCF a few months, it's clear new basketball coach Johnny Dawkins is making Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia a big priority on the recruiting trail.

Dawkins himself is a D.C. native and so is assistant coach Jamill Jones. The first round of offers they issued this spring were to top DMV prospects.

On Tuesday, the Knights struck with their first big prep commit from the area in Myles Douglas, a small forward from Baltimore playing at Virginia's Paul VI Catholic High School.

Douglas, who visited several weeks ago, has an impressive offer list that also includes Penn State, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Temple, USC, Miami, Maryland, Richmond, Hofstra, Rutgers and Delaware State.

UCF assistant coach Kevin Norris had previously offered Douglas while he was on staff at USC.

The staff also recently landed another DMV player in former Drexel point guard Terrell Allen, who will sit out this season due to transfer rules.

Douglas is UCF's second commitment in the Class of 2017. He joins Atlanta shooting guard Daniel Lewis, who like Douglas had an impressive offer sheet, committing to the Knights in May over Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt and Xavier.
